The first lady wore a sparkly blue one-shouldered gown accented by a silver belt. It was designed by New York-based Peter Soronen, whose dresses Obama has worn several times. Last year Tareq and Michaele Salahi somehow got into the party without an invitation which turned into a massive security nightmare for the secret service.

The first lady wasn’t the only one who wore bold colors for state dinner dress, which was held in honor of Mexican president Felipe Calderon and his wife. Guest Eva Longoria Parker wore a bright-orange gown.
